Essential Job Functions:

  1. Serve as an advocate for all children and youth
  2. Consult and collaborate with educators, parents, children, and other professionals to improve student outcomes
  3. Provide direct professional nursing services, illness, and emergency care to students and staff in response to the nursing assessment and in accordance with professional standards, school policy, and procedures and state law regarding nurse practice
  4. Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health related issues, following all federal, state, and local laws
  5. Assess the health needs and accommodations of students with regard to their individual health issues
  6. Coordinate activities for emergency care for illness and/or injury for the prevention of communicable diseases
  7. Supervise the student's’ self-administration of medications at school per physician orders and school policies
  8. Act in concert with legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession
  9. Report all violations of rules and regulations to the building administration and Director of Student Services
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned
