Description | Minimum Qualifications:
- Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education, or
- Licensed by the Will County Regional Office of Education as a substitute teacher
- Holds a temporary employee authorization letter issued by the Will County Regional Office of Education
Accountable to:
- Building Administrator(s)
Primary Objective:
- To temporarily assist teachers/providers in creating a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each pupil’s ability
Evaluation:
- Per the Board of Education’s policy on the evaluation of Educational Support Personnel
Essential Job Functions:
- Teach district approved curricula
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Execute the lesson plans issued by the regular teacher/provider
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Evaluate pupils’ needs, progress, and achievement
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
- Meet the standards of professional, ethical, and confidential conduct
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bending, carrying, climbing, must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs., such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture
- Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with the public and other staff

- Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases
